December 19: Royal Harvest

A First Flush Darjeeling with notes of a floral bouquet

Today, we present ROYAL HARVEST, an exquisite First Flush Darjeeling black tea grown in the "Queen of the Himalayas". With its floral, earthy notes and natural sweetness, this limited tea reflects the beauty and excellence of its origin. Furthermore, our partner Makaibari supports the health of its tea pickers with a dedicated eye care center.

Their excellence, Mother Nature

The Darjeeling region is also known as the “Queen of the Himalayas,” and this grandiose, strictly limited First Flush proves to be well worthy of the royal description of origin. It impresses with an overwhelmingly full-bodied, smooth taste and unfolds earthy notes infused with a sunny, floral sweetness. A true premium tea, stemming from biodynamic, nature-orientated cultivation.

Makaibari Tea Estate (Darjeeling, India)

Located in the Himalayan foothills of West Bengal, Makaibari Tea Estate is one of the oldest tea plantations in India. The 670-hectare estate was established in 1859 and was one of the first to be certified for Fairtrade. In 1988 it was certified as the first fully organic tea garden in the world, and in 1995 as the first biodynamic Demeter tea garden.

An eye on the health of employees

Picking tea is a job that puts a lot of strain on the eyes. To prevent vision problems among the Makaibari team, an eye center was founded, whose free examinations and preventive healthcare tips are also made available to the surrounding villages. Other costs, such as for operations and follow-up treatments, are also largely covered by Makaibari.

Cups with different teas
